For nearly 15 years, the Foundation has actively supported community initiatives.<\/p>

Between 2007 and 2009, the Foundation backed a community initiative aimed at addressing social issues in Berehove and the Berehove district while fostering sustainable development by engaging local initiatives. This effort united local residents, NGOs, and business representatives.<\/p>

In 2008, cross-border cooperation among NGOs began in alignment with the EU Neighborhood Policy. As part of a nearly year-long program, training sessions and conferences introduced 20 member organizations of the ACCORD network to EU Neighborhood Policy. Participants also visited the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, local government offices, and social institutions of community organizations.<\/p>

The following year, a conference brought together 42 NGOs and international experts to discuss cooperation between the EU and Ukraine. Based on the discussions, recommendations for Ukraine’s National Strategic Plans and Indicative Programs for 2010-2013 were formulated and submitted to the European Commission.<\/p>

An EU entrepreneurship training program for Zakarpattia entrepreneurs in 2009 became a significant initiative at both the regional and national levels. 44 small business owners participated, learning about business opportunities within the EU, Hungarian-Ukrainian bilateral cooperation, company formation, business operations, patent protection, grant applications, and monitoring.<\/p>

In 2010, conferences were held in several Ukrainian regions\u2014Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Berehove\u2014to introduce NGOs to humanitarian aid principles, standards, and concepts, as well as European organizations working in this field.<\/p>

In 2013, the Foundation launched a humanitarian training program for NGOs in Western Ukraine. The program aimed to improve NGO preparedness for potential disasters and response strategies by sharing Hungarian expertise in this area.<\/p>

Berehove hosted its first half-marathon in 2009. Initially called “The Wine Country Berehove Half Marathon,” this event was created through the cooperation of the ADVANCE Foundation and a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine. The goal was not only to promote a healthy lifestyle but also to improve conditions for and expand green tourism in the Berehove region. The race was renamed the “Berehove Charity Half Marathon” in 2015, with support from the Hungarian Ecumenical Aid Service, shifting its focus to helping low-income families through charity initiatives.<\/p>
